Face of Denmark to find the next Helena Christensen, 30 years after her representation at Miss Universe!
The Face of Denmark organization is searching for the next young lady to follow in Helena Christensen’s footsteps and represent Denmark at Miss Universe 2016.
2016 marks the 30th anniversary of Danish supermodel, Helena Christensen’s participation as Miss Universe Denmark 1986. Since then, Helena has become a major supermodel modeled for Chanel, Victoria’s Secret, and been on the cover of Vogue. Currently, Helena is the face for L’Oreal Paris skincare and one of the most recognizable faces in the world.
In 2015, over 1,000 girls had applied since March, but only 25 were selected to compete at the grand finale, which was held August 15th at AC Bella Sky, representing everywhere in Denmark from Aarhus to Ærø to Roskilde to Hillerød and to København with many other areas in between.
Cecilie Wellemberg, the reigning Miss Universe Denmark 2015, twenty-one, of CBS, is currently the face of Buch Copenhagen, an upscale women’s clothing store. Wellemberg represented Denmark at Miss Universe and was 19th overall after the semi-finals. Prior to competing at Miss Universe, Wellemberg spent several weeks in the USA preparing with some of the top industry leaders in fashion, public speaking, runway walking and more. So far, Wellemberg’s responsibilities have included travelling the world and making appearances. She has travelled to Rome, Italy, Marbella, Spain, Washington D.C., Chicago, Las Vegas in the USA.
Castings for the new Miss Universe Denmark will be held February 20th and February 27th at locations in Copenhagen, interested contestants must apply online at www.missuniversedenmark.dk to be considered. Requirements for interested delegates are;
- Female
- Have never had any facial cosmetic surgery
- Have never been married
- Have never engaged in full frontal nudity
- Are between the ages of 17-26
- Danish citizens
- Have never had a child, or be a responsible legal guardian for one
The Face of Denmark competition also selects the representatives to Miss Earth and Miss International. The first Miss Earth, Catharina Svensson Brink, of Denmark, lawyer, wife of three-time Swedish dressage Olympian Jan Brink, and owner of Tullstorp Dressage Stable, is now a co-director for the new “Face of Denmark” organization. 2016 also marks the 30th anniversary of Pia Larsen’s placement as first runner up at Miss International 1986. The reigning Miss International Denmark 2015 is occupational therapist, Mette Riis Sørensen, Silvija Vukovic, top 4 finalist on “Denmark’s Next Top Model” in 2011 and psychiatric nurse, is the reigning Miss United Continent Denmark 2016.
